Clarissa started learning Chinese in high school, motivated by personal interest and the hope of connecting with her Chinese heritage. As an Indonesian Chinese, she believed that learning Chinese was the first step to deepening her connection to the culture.

Daniel Pascoe

Daniel moved to Guiyang, Guizhou in 2012 with the goal of learning about China from within — its people, culture, and everyday life. He learned both the local dialect and Mandarin, finding that being able to communicate effectively not only made daily life easier, but also far more meaningful and enjoyable.
