Each year, New Zealand Chinese Language Week releases a Trilingual Childrens book
in English, Te Reo Māori, and Mandarin, and distributes over 4000 copies to schools, libraries, and communities across New Zealand.
About Hosting a Book Reading
Members of the community celebrate New Zealand Chinese Language Week by hosting book readings. These events are a wonderful way to celebrate language diversity, inspire young learners, and encourage the use of Te Reo Māori, Mandarin, and English in a fun and engaging setting.
How we can support you
We may be able to provide additional copies of the book, along with merchandise and posters to support your event. If you do not have access to a Te Reo Māori or Mandarin speaker, we may be able to help arrange one for you. If you would like to host a book reading but are unsure whether you will receive a copy, please let us know and we will ensure one reaches you.

This year's edition

Hauraki Broo
From award-winning Kiwi children’s author and illustrator Nikki Slade Robinson, the story follows a young Bryde’s whale, Broo, as he searches Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf for food in a beautiful story about marine life and why protecting our ocean matters.
