Clarissa started learning Chinese in high school, motivated by personal interest and the hope of connecting with her Chinese heritage. As an Indonesian Chinese, she believed that learning Chinese was the first step to deepening her connection to the culture.

Levi began learning Chinese in late 2022 to prepare for a trip to Liuzhou, his girlfriend’s hometown. His goal was to connect more meaningfully by being able to speak with her family during the visit.
