The Waikato Cherry Tree Festival is such a joyous one with families, couples and friends all in a happy mood snapping photos together under the pink blossom canopy. It’s hard not to smile.

About

The Waikato Cherry Tree Festival is highly multicultural with a major Chinese input including Chinese dragons, Beijing opera, Tai Chi, traditional dress, Kung Fu, Chinese food, Chinese music and visitors from a range of places in New Zealand and around the world. The festival naturally has flowering cherry trees but also bluebell woods and a beautiful garden of many flowers, ponds, waterfalls, streams and drystone walls.

This interactive event has stilt walkers, human statues, clown balloon twister, face painting, pony rides, kapa haka, Japanese drums, food vendors, high teas, speeches by dignitaries, musicians, dancers, visitors dressed in national costume, visitors dressed smartly, visitors dressed bizarrely, visitors performing spontaneously and much more.

In it's third consecutive year, the Waikato Cherry Tree Festival is expected to attract 12,000 visitors, double the number of 2018.

The festival is a photographer's and videographer's dream with such beauty and happiness on display.
