Dumpling Day is for everyone — and there are plenty of

ways to get involved! 

Whether you're a restaurant, a food lover, a business, or a family looking to join the fun, Dumpling Day is a celebration of creativity, culture, and community — all wrapped up in a dumpling.

Restaurants

Restaurants can take part in our Design-A-Dumpling Competition, where you’ll create a one-off dumpling special for the week and have diners vote for their favourite.

Food Lovers

Food lovers can explore dumpling specials around the country during Dumpling Week (19–28 September), vote for their favourites, and go in the draw to win prizes.

What happened last year?

2024 National Dumpling Day was a great success, and involved a Dumpling competition with restaurants submitting some delicious creations! We ran a number of social media promotions and competitions, and it was great to see everyone getting involved and celebrating dumplings through NZ Chinese Language Week!

The dumplings were created to cure frostbite, during a harsh Winter.
